The primary attractions here are the grand Sun Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari. Discovered in 1813, these temples were nearly buried in sand until they were relocated in 1960 with the help of the Egyptian government and UNESCO to avoid submersion due to rising Nile waters. Ramses II constructed the main temple to commemorate himself, featuring a mural of his celebrated victory at the Battle of Kadesh. To the north of Ramses’ temple lies the Nefertari Temple, built by Ramses II for his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari, among his other 200 wives and concubines. After your visit, you'll fly back to Aswan and be transferred to your hotel.
